Marbles of Darkness 2 now has a Linux release in addition to 2 Windows releases. It comes in the form of AppImage, a single file with all of the game data packed into it.

To run it, you may have to right click, go to its properties and tick "Allow executing file as program". Afterwards, just click to run it like any other file.

AppImage is supported by a vast majority of common Linux distributions. If it's not that well supported, you may have to install FUSE 2. On Ubuntu Linux, open a terminal and use

sudo apt install libfuse2

While AppImage is very portable as you can move it around as you please and still run it, everything is in 1 file so it may not be as modifiable.
